Upbeat key work in the intro immediately grabs your ear and quirky, vibrant vocals make it hard to pull away from Wesley Jensen’s new single “Everything”. His ’60s inspired pop melodies are fluid, yet heavy in introspection.
The transition at 2:14 is a dreamlike state and its subsequent build reminds strongly of early Arcade Fire. As the familiar bubbly pop beat returns, tight guitar work and some final forest-like synths close up the production. Jensen’s ability to craft experimental pop tunes with broad appeal can’t help but evoke comparisons to the great Brian Wilson.
Jensen’s full album, Something New, drops on May 25th.
